My sister and I used to enjoy reggae alot when we were growing up in Queens NY... We used to visit this spot called the Q Club... For us, it was the best club ever and the music was awesome...here's a glimpse of the type of reggae they used to rock... purely awesome!!

Then hip hop busted on the scene and leveled the playing field, and as a result, rock music started to drift, taking the back seat...

Hip Hop was bold, it was exciting, and it was outselling rock.

But the music grew stale and I'm into new, experimental, and music with good riddems.

So I've decided to start playing rock music in Harlem... and I'm a black black mofo!

why?

- hip hop is becoming too silly, and its lacking creativity.
- showing my neighbors some brotherly love.
- there's some groovy tunes out there that some of us folk ain't hear.

Anyway and most importantly, music is colorless... or gentrified, like Harlem.

Busta Rhymes is easily one of the most beloved hip hop artists of all time, and definitely one of my favorites. Busta first jumped on the mic in 1991 with his L.I homies, Leaders of the New School and since then, he’s collaborated with seemingly everyone, staying atop the charts, and most importantly, he’s been consistently creating hip hop and r&b magic… and reggae too.

One of my all time favorite hip hop groups, A Tribe Called Quest is releasing a documentary today that's going to be blazing and amazing....
My love for this group runs back to my days as a youth growing up in Queens Village, Hollis, and the St. Albans area...

As a rap group, ATCQ is considered to be Hip Hop Royalty, (Beatles like) and their music speaks volumes... Even though they haven't made an album in over 10years, you could...n't tell because they're still so very relevant...

As a dj, whenever I play a Tribe song, everyone responds... New School Kats, Old School Kats, Gangsta, Backpackers and even folks who claim not to like rap... Go Figure...

I could go on and on praising these kats... but I'll let my dj set display my affection. This Saturday night, please join me in celebrating the Legacy of this these Hip Hop Legends... Have you guys had a chance to checkout Common and Nas’ recent song collaboration called “Ghetto Dreams?” If you haven’t yet, it’s pretty groovy.

As for me, this collaboration was years delayed and I always wondered why these two great minds haven’t collaborated sooner… (I felt the same way about Malcolm X & Dr. King too… These kats are the hip hop version of those men)…

Just imagine what we would of heard had they collaborated sooner… It’s almost unimaginable to conceive!
